About a couple of weeks ago, Google engineer Benson Leung reviewed the USB Type-C
cable and adapter that come with the OnePlus 2, finding that both of
them use non-standard resistors which may damage to external power
sources in certain circumstances.
Back when Leung first made his claims, OnePlus insisted that “the
OnePlus USB Type-C cable and adapter are compliant with USB 2.0 and
Type-C 1.0 protocols,” but technically we weren’t talking about either
of those, and Leung’s objections had to do specifically with the USB
type-C 1.1 standard.
Now OnePlus is ready to admit that Leung was right, and rather than
the 10kΩ resistor currently in its USB type-C accessories, version 1.1
dictates that a 56kΩ resistor should instead be present.
OnePlus says that its USB Type-C cable and
adapter will not create any trouble as long as they are being used with
the OnePlus 2. Those who've purchased the cable or the adapter
separately can get a full refund by heading over to the source link
below and filling out the form there.
